Two and a half days in October covering four pottery firing techniques: American raku, naked raku, pit firing, and barrel firing. Ferric chloride and saggar included as well, giving you the flexibility to experiment with techniques and effects.

Workshop Techniques

Our unique approach to pottery workshops gives you the opportunity to try a variety of different firing techniques in a single weekend. We explore raku techniques fired in a Peter Pugger gas kiln, as well as pit firing and barrel firings in homemade barrel kilns.

Interested in building your own kiln? The weekend includes a discussion on how to build your own raku kiln, so you’ll take away the knowledge of how to achieve some of these techniques in your home studio.

Building community through learning

Joe Barberio, Al Scovern, and Bron Whitfield are three potters with a combined 25 years experience in ceramic art.

Our semi-annual workshops are intimate experiences that allow artists of all skill levels to immerse themselves in a variety of firing techniques in picturesque midcoast Maine.
